The Sound Blaster Z SE integrated sound card from CREATIVE is an integrated sound card that plugs into a PCI-e x1 slot. The card uses the Sound Blaster Command driver which allows for simple configuration and advanced options. Installation

Software configuration

The Sound Blaster Command driver can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website. After the installation it will probably offer you an update. The driver allows to test the sound outputs. No other settings are necessary.

If you want to use this card to power the Logitech Z906, you can perfectly use the optical output, and set the encoding to DTS (better quality than Dolby).

The Sounderlink bass shaker is a rather imposing bass shaker with its 13cm diameter. It produces powerful bass with excellent fidelity up to 35hz. The spring-loaded connectors allow for a secure connection without the need for special tips.

The contact surface is covered with a very dense foam to optimize the transmission of vibrations. This foam prevents the heat from being transmitted from the speaker to the stand, which is why there are large cooling fins.

Installation tips

The Sounderlink bass shaker is mounted with M4 screws. There are 4 holes distributed at the top of a 10cm square.

Once again, we particularly appreciate the spring-loaded connectors, which are often missing from the sinus live bass shaker presented here.

An inexpensive USB sound card easy to integrate that can handle up to 8 bass shakers ! Available on Aliexpress from 25€.

Using the sound outputs of your motherboard is great, but it can mean pulling a lot of cables from your computer to the simulator.

This external sound card connects via USB and allows to manage up to 8 bass shakers! It is based on the CM6206 chip made by CMedia, which can be found in many cases in this price range.

Installation

On my simulator, I was able to connect this card to my USB hub (on which the Simucube and the SRT box are connected) without creating any conflicts.

Configuration

I put here the link to the CM6206LX-1.04(CR) driver which is the one I use and which allows to have the following interface (the software appears in the hidden icons when you plug the sound card):

All motherboards have a sound card. It normally allows you to power your headphones or speakers. And you can use these outputs for your bass shakers!

Be careful though, if you usually connect your headphones or speakers to your PC, you’ll have to find them somewhere else: on the screen (the hdmi cable usually carries the sound), or for example on a virtual reality headset (which also behaves like a sound card).

In any case, it’s still a great way to test bass shakers without incurring significant costs.

If you choose this solution, be aware that not all motherboards offer 5.1 outputs (which can power up to 6 bass shakers), but you don’t have to add much to go from a 2.0 motherboard (2 bass shakers) to a 5.1 motherboard. That’s why it’s the most economical solution.

For example, the MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max offers 5.1 output (slot n°5). You can find it at 100€ on Amazon while a dedicated sound card already costs 40€.

Moreover, it avoids the need to add a dedicated or external sound card, which is why it is also the most practical solution.

Mounting tips

To get the most out of this model, the following tips should be followed:

• Use M5 screws for mounting
• Use two keys of 10 to install the audio cables: one key holds the terminal block, the other serves as the screw. In fact, the entire terminal block is only held in place by a rivet, which may eventually fail due to repeated incorrect installation.
  
• An audio cable gauge 16 is perfectly dimensioned for this type of bass shaker.
• Use RV1.25-5S crimp lugs: bass shakers generate a lot of vibration (that’s their job), but these vibrations tend to loosen everything. So don’t try to insert a bare cable: either you tighten too much, and then you crush the cable that will come out. Or you don’t tighten enough and the screw will loosen. The ultimate solution: the RV1.25-5S terminal (Amazon, Aliexpress).

The best amplifier for a mid range setup ?

This amp therefore offers 50W per channel, which is already enough to feel good vibrations. Powered by two RCA jacks (Amazon, Aliexpress), you can connect 4 bass shakers.

You can also connect the amplifier via bluetooth, but only in two channels.

The volume of each channel is adjustable. We will regret the absence of a global volume adjustment.

The assembly

You can download here the clamp that requires two M8 screws. This is a priori the best way to fix it, as there are no fixing brackets.

Provide a 24v 5A power supply (Amazon, Aliexpress). The harness tensioner control box includes an output to power this amp.

The amp comes with an 8-pin screw terminal block. I advise to order 2 pins screw terminals (Amazon, Aliexpress) to have one terminal per bass shaker and to facilitate the assembly/disassembly.
